The last time Jared Tomich stepped on a football field with 22 guys in uniforms, his top priority was laying someone out at his defensive end position.
Ah, those were the good old college and NFL days.
Friday night will be pretty special, too, when the 1992 Lake Central grad has his No. 75 jersey retired during halftime of the Valparaiso game.
"What a huge honor," Tomich said. "(Athletic director) Mr. (Mark) Peterson actually grabbed me over the summer time at a golf outing and mentioned this was something he wanted to do. I was taken back by it considering how young I am. I don't know how many times they've done this before."
Tomich is the first athlete in Lake Central's history to have his jersey retired.
