VALPARAISO | Jeffrey Jordan, son of NBA legend Michael Jordan, took his official recruiting visit to Valparaiso University on Monday, a source close to the VU men's basketball team confirmed.

Jordan, who was not accompanied by any family members, had lunch at Buffa Louie's with associate head coach Bryce Drew, assistants Luke Gore and Jason Hawkins and a few players. VU head coach Homer Drew was not at the lunch.

Valparaiso has been in the recruiting mix for Jordan since February. Jordan, a 6-foot-1 senior point guard at Loyola Academy in Wilmette, has drawn the interest of several Horizon League schools -- most notably Loyola University Chicago -- as well as bigger schools such as Xavier, Northwestern and Penn State.

The spring signing period for the class of 2007-08 commenced last Wednesday. Valparaiso has three scholarships available for next year's class, which already includes Bryan Bouchie and Howard Little. Homer Drew has said the team is looking for a point guard and another post player. Drew has also said he may not use all three scholarships for next season.

" Personally, I think Jeffrey should be a lot better. It seems as if he dosen't really care for the game .Maybe he thinks he will just grow into the talent? Word of advice. Work on your game, because you have much to live up to. If you continue to play this game then you should work harder or give up. Simple as that "

" A scholarship rewards merit. As such, Jeffrey Jordan deserves to be recruited on merit alone--no matter who his father is. If he has enough promise as a player he should get the scholarship, if not he shouldn't. The idea that his father should pay for him to play at a level for which he is not prepared is ludicrous. Valpo is not in the Big Ten. If Jeffrey is smart, coachable, reasonably athletic, and motivated he could do perfectly well as a point guard in the Horizon. But if he's not motivated, he won't do well anywhere. "

" Well he will never ever be anything vaguely resembling his dad if you saw him play against Indy North Central on ESPN ,you know why. Although MJ his dad is one of the few that could afford his tuition save the scholarship for some one who needs it make the old man pay if he wants to play there. Cant VALPO recruit NWI like Purdue??
