Woman reports indecent exposure in parking lot
An employee at Munster Community Hospital reported that an unknown man performed a sex act in front of her as she walked to her car early Sunday, police said.
The woman was going to her car in the west parking lot at the facility, 901 MacArthur Blvd., about 12:15 a.m. when she saw the man standing next to a newer brown Ford pickup truck. He then walked forward and exposed himself to her, police said.
The woman then drove to the emergency room, police said.
Hospital security arrived and found the man sitting in the truck, but he fled when they asked him to get out of the vehicle, police said. He was described as an African-American man about 5 feet 11 inches and 180 pounds, police said.
A check of his license plate number came back as not on file, police said.

DYER
Officer proposes parade for National Night Out
DARE officer Brian Kissinger wants to hold a parade to celebrate National Night Out on Aug. 3.
He would also like some help from the town's public works department, a request officials worry may cut into Dyer's overtime budget.
Kissinger would like Public Works to aid in traffic control for the free event, which should last about four hours, Public Works Superintendent Ed Robinson told the Council at its study session Wednesday.
The event begins at 6 p.m., and should last about four hours, putting it into the category of an overtime shift for Public Works. Council members suggested that if Public Works participates, it should resort to adjusted or staggered shifts instead, keeping its employees out of the overtime category.
Everyone at the meeting praised National Night Out as a valued and well-attended event for Dyer. This year's activities include booths, attractions, the Lowe's Safety Truck and the Heathworks Hummer. The event, which is open to the public, will be held in Northgate Park.
