CROWN POINT -- Alzheimer's Association 2003 Memory Walk will be Sept. 28 at Lake County Fairgrounds. There will be a one-mile and three-mile walk. Registration is at noon with walks beginning at 1 p.m. Participants should gather contributions before the walk and bring the funds with them for prizes. MERRILLVILLE -- Fund-raiser to benefit Mark Kasper will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday at Trinity Memorial Lutheran Church, 7950 Marshall St. Kasper has been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and lost his wife to brain cancer in August. Proceeds will help Kasper and his two children with medical bills. Outdoor festival, at 1 p.m., includes a moonwalk, dunk tank, horse rides and crafts. Dinner, silent auction, bake sale and musical entertainment will be from 2 to 7:30 p.m. Tickets for dinner are $10 for adults and $6 for children 10 and younger. LOWELL --- Razorback Wrestling Team, serving youths from age 4 through high school, will host Hog Wild Poker Run and Hog Roast at 9 a.m. Sept. 20 at American Legion Post 101, 108 E. Commercial Ave. Cost is $5 which includes full pork dinner and a dessert table as well as a beer garden and disc jockey. Registration for the poker run is at 9 a.m. at the Legion grounds with the first bike out at 11 a.m. and the last bike in at 5 p.m. Entry fee is $15 for bike and rider and $20 with a passenger. Cost includes tickets to the hog roast. The 100-mile poker run ride will stop at six watering holes, and participants will draw five cards when they return with the proper validation from the stops. The best poker hand will win $100 with second place earning $50 and third place, $25. All proceeds go to support the Razorback Wrestling Team, a not-for-profit organization. CROWN POINT -- Golf outing to benefit MAAP Services for the Autism Spectrum will be at noon Sept. 20 at Youche Country Club, 13232 Marshall St. Participants will enjoy an afternoon of golf, an old-fashioned cook-out and live entertainment. Tee times will be available from noon to 1:30 p.m. A deejay will play music all afternoon and there will be live bluegrass music from 2 to 5 p.m. Cost is $260 per foursome or $65 per person. HOBART -- St. Bridget Catholic School of Hobart seeks corporate sponsors for education, support for the "Pennies from Heaven Raffle," where the first prize is $20,000, and support of the Scrip Gift Certificate Program where customers visit local retailers and use the gift certificates to earn cash for the school. LOWELL -- Free blood pressure and blood sugar screenings will be offered the third Wednesday of each month at the Lowell Public Library, 1505 E. WHITING -- Senior spaghetti luncheon to benefit Meals on Wheels, 211 S. East St., Crown Point, will be at 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Sept. 24 at Strack & Van Til, located at 1836 Calumet Ave., Whiting. For $2, people age 55 and older will receive a meal, entertainment and door prizes. Tickets may be purchased at Whiting Strack & Van Til or at Centier Bank. For information, call (219) 473-4433.
