Times staff report
A motorcycle fund-raiser is planned Sunday to benefit Joe White, who was paralyzed after being thrown from a mechanical bull at this year's Porter County Fair.
Sign up for the poker run benefit is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Leroy's Hot Stuff, 333 West U.S. 20 in Porter.
A dart tournament is scheduled for noon, and food and entertainment will follow at 3 p.m.
The event, which calls for a donation of $10 per person, will take place rain or shine.
White, who was 28 years old at the time of the July 25 accident, suffered two crushed vertebrae. Doctors have given him a 4 percent chance of walking.
White has a 5-year-old daughter.
White's family filed a lawsuit July 31 against the owner/operator of the mechanical bull ride -- Club Karaoke.
