Course offers rules to get drivers renewed

Rules of the Road review course for Lansing residents will be offered by Secretary of State Jesse White in cooperation with the Lan-Oak Park District from 10 a.m. to noon June 23-Aug. 11 at Eisenhower Center, 2550 178th St. The purpose of the free course is to help applicants pass the Illinois drivers license renewal examination. Drivers are informed about the current vision and driving ability parts of the examination. The course also prepares applicants for the general written and road sign examination.

Books offered at half-price at ongoing book fair

Scholastic Book Fair will run through July 31 in youth services at Lansing Public Library, 2750 Indiana Ave. All books will be half price. Hours are: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 5 to 8 p.m. Mondays; 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays; and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

Adults gather to build bridges on Fridays

Friday Bridge Gathering for Adults, for ages 55 and older, meets at noon Fridays at Marie Irwin Community Center, 18120 Highland Ave. Participants can play once a week, once a month or drop in. Play is geared toward those at the advanced beginner level

or beyond. Light refreshments are served. Fee is $35 for 42 weeks or $1.50 drop-in fee.
