LANSING
It's as easy as 1-2-3 to get lessons
1-2-3 Tennis program offered by Lan-Oak Park District, 2550 178th St., will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays June 10 to July 15. Program is designed to introduce new players to the game of tennis. Each day participants will learn a new skill. Participants will receive a USA Tennis T-shirt and a USA Tennis Certificate. Practice balls will be available but each participant is required to bring their own tennis racquet. Program is designed for ages 19 and older. Cost is $32 for residents and $37 for nonresidents.

It gets chili at post on Wednesdays
All-you-can-eat spaghetti and chili dinner is from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. every Wednesday this month at Knights of Columbus of Lansing, 178th Street and Lorenz Avenue. Spaghetti with sauce is $5.50, or with meatballs $6, served with salad, choice of dressing, garlic bread and dessert. Chile dinner is $4 served with crackers, shredded cheese and onions.

Parents can take positive STEP toward parenting
STEP: Systematic Training for Effective Parenting course will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays beginning June 11 at Thornton Township Youth Committee, 14323 S. Halsted. There is a one time fee of $35 due before or on the night of the first class. This course satisfies requirements for DHS and DCFS.

Keep mind fit with readerobics program at library
Readerobics adult summer reading program registration will be from Monday through July 5 at South Holland Public Library, 16250 Wausau. Program is open to anyone age 15 and older with valid South Holland Public Library card. Program runs Monday through Aug.2. Each participant who reads four books during this time will win a prize. For each additional four books that are read, participants will receive a coupon to sign up for the Keep Fit Drawing that will be held Aug. 5.

BLUE ISLAND
Cars make this Dixie dash classic
Chicago Southland Dixie Dash 2003, an automotive tri-venture for vehicles 1975 or older, will be held June 21. A brief orientation meeting prior to parade kickoff will begin at 10 a.m. in Blue Island. The path of the parade will follow Dixie Highway through the communities of: Blue Island, Posen, Harvey, Hazel Crest, Homewood, Flossmoor, Chicago Heights, Steger, Crete, Beecher, Grant Park and Momence. Poker Run will begin at the midpoint of the parade route. All Poker Run participants will be expected to participate in the first half of the parade. The route will follow secondary paved roads to the indicated checkpoints for a card draw. Poker Run entry fee is $35 per entry and $5 for each additional person. The TSD Rallye will begin at the midpoint of the parade route. All TSD Rallye participants will be expected to participate in the first half of the parade. The route will follow secondary paved roads to the indicated checkpoints where their arrival time will be recorded. TSD Rallye
entry fee is $80 per entry. Two people are allowed in the vehicle. Fee to participate only in the parade is $15 and $5 for each additional person.
